Mark Keshishian aka DJ Cypha is no stranger to electronic dance music...With a strong base in music theory Cypha began his musical career in elementary school where he played the saxophone and continued to do so throughout his academic career. At an early age he has also performed in various jazz ensembles and folk bands with live percussion. His years of playing music with live bands has given him the insight needed to interact with other musicians and the crowd. Since visiting the legendary NYC nightclub Sound factory in 1999, his connection between the crowd and DJ was born. This eye awakening experience reveled how powerful energy and emotions and love for the music can be. With the music pumping and people reacting, he knew this was what he wanted to do. Since that night he saved up money to buy turntables and has been adding to his collection of records ever since. Mark will bring forth his knowledge and experience at this point, to the electronic dance music world.

Cypha began spinning the dirty, aggressive, broken jungle rhythms and was inspired by the smooth rolling basslines of Drum n Bass. The hunger for driving hypnotic beats grew larger. No record or style seemed to nourish the furious hunger for that certain sound. The answer was found within the fundamental grooves of House music and Techno. Attending the I Love Techno festival in Gent, Belgium for the first time in 2004 was a huge turning point in Mark’s musical career. It became very obvious to him the power of electronic dance music and how infectious it is all over the world. The morphing of sounds between house and techno with a minimal/pure aspect was a revelation to him. To mature his sound even further, Cypha traveled to the island of Ibiza to seek out the world’s best clubs and DJs. Here is where Mark truly learned how to incorporate diverse sub-genres into a single set and how to read a crowd. Whether it be deep house, progressive, tech-house or acid. Massive warehouse party or trendy upscale lounge, Cypha will always come correct and set the right vibe.

He harnesses the true energy of 4 TO THE FLOOR banging beats which enables creativity without limitations. The strong ethnic roots truly come through when the heavy accent on percussion peaks through the blends. He manipulates drum patterns and mixes elements so tight that the listeners have no choice but to be hypnotized by the groove. The mixing technique is precise and as he always pushes the envelope by using a third turntable, FX, and a live drum pad for true interaction..... This is a DJ who truly feeds off the crowd and will deliver a mind-bending journey every time he sees someone enjoying, wanting more, or just indulging.

Recent achievements include earning a Bachelors of Professional Studies in Business Management/Audio Recording Technology from Five Towns College. Mark is now the founding member of Prestige Entertainment (www.prestigeent.net) which is a full service audio company that offers a variety of services (mobile DJ, audio/recording engineer, live sound reinforcement rentals). Having already worked on recordings with various prestigious labels in the area, this is an artist who truly believes in the art of DJ. To me a good DJ will make a loop interesting and stimulating, every moment is just another chance to “mix-up” something original and creative. He has become a regular in the metro areas underground party scene and has held residencies at Club Seho and KindRadio (livetechnokast). Look out for future Cypha sightings as he is coming to a rotation near you...
